A story about a real-life woman, The Woman Rebel introduces Margaret Sanger. She was a social reformer, sex educator, and nurse. She founded the American Birth Control League and the National Committee on Federal Legislation for Birth Control. She was never afraid to take on the United States government in her drive to provide women more control over their reproductive lives. In 1946, she helped found the International Committee on Planned Parenthood, which evolved into the International Planned Parenthood Federation. She died a year after the Supreme Court ruled in 1965 to legalize birth control in the United States.
